Rooflights - Nanogel®
The new rooflight technology that meets today’s strict energy and building requirements
Roofglaze can supply the very latest Nanogel®-filled rooflights, offering unrivialled thermal and acoustic benefits, with greatly improved light diffusion characteristics. Nanogel is a unique aerogel – the world’s lightest and best insulating solid material. It consists of silica based granules made up of 5% solids and 95% air. Nanogel’s unique structure creates superior insulating, light transmitting and water repelling properties, making it ideally suited for use in architectural daylighting systems.
To create our RG Nanogel rooflights, the channels within multiwall polycarbonate glazing sheet are simply filled with Nanogel and the sheets are delivered to site as sealed cassettes.
RG Nanogel rooflights have been specified for use on some of the UK’s most energy-efficient buildings, including the world’s first zero-carbon Tesco Superstore at Ramsey in Peterborough.
RG Rooflights of any configuration can be specified with Nanogel-filled glazing
Nanogel® performance benefits
- Increased light diffusion
- Interior environments are improved with soft, even, deep light dispersion with no glare.
- Reduced heat transfer
- With U-values as low as 0.91 w/m2k (25mm panel), Roofglaze Nanogel rooflights make a significant contribution to building energy efficiency. Compliance with today’s strict energy and building requirements can be made without trade-offs.
- Reduced transmitted noise
- Superior acoustic performance minimises unwanted nuisance noise, with a 25% reduction at 1000Hz.
