Roofglaze were commissioned by Roderick James Architects LLP to provide the bespoke atrium rooflight for Eagle Rock, one of a number of high-end private residences that have recently been constructed in the Achabeag area of Lochaline, Argyll.
Eagle Rock is without doubt the jewel-in-the-crown of this development. It is a 400m2 elliptical plan house with four bedrooms and four bathrooms, boasting a wide range of stunning 20 mile panoramic views across the picturesque Sound of Mull.
This house consists of a large living room with a kitchen at one end, the aforementioned four bedrooms with their en-suite bathrooms, a three storey glazed gallery courtyard with curved concrete arched staircases, home cinema room, library, and also a music and games room. Two cloakrooms, laundry and a cold larder complete the property.
The skylight itself is a bespoke Schüco FW 50+ atrium rooflight that has been installed at a 20o pitch, with a mid-kerb transom detail. You can see from these images just how much beneficial natural daylight is brought into this central feature courtyard area of the property by the bespoke rooflight from Roofglaze.
Impressively, this house achieves 100% on its environmental impact rating and 99% for energy efficiency, which is testament to the excellent thermal performance of the bespoke rooflight that we have provided here. According to the owners themselves, Eagle Rock has performed exceptionally well throughout the cold winter and has received widespread acclaim from all of its guests.
