Roofglaze has installed two bespoke Schüco FW 60+ rooflights as a crucial part of the major refurbishment project at 1-8 The Broadway, Ealing, working in association with the Main Contractor Knight Harwood.
Having previously been comprised of 25 smaller retail units, the property has been re-developed into three larger stores fronting the Broadway, which are now occupied by major high street retailers Morrisons, TK Maxx and McDonalds. Bringing daylight to the new Morrisons store is a 25o Dualpitch rooflight, which is supported by a structural steel framework.
Measuring over 14.5 metres long and with a span of 5.75 metres, this skylight was constructed using Schüco’s FW 60+ system, with 60mm wide extruded aluminium thermally broken profiles. The same system was also used to construct a 12.9m x 6.9m Monopitch rooflight, this time for the unit that has now been occupied by TK Maxx.
The glazing for both rooflights combines a 6mm clear heat soaked toughened low-e outer pane, 9.5mm thick laminated inner glazing and a 16mm argon filled cavity. This specification provides a centre pane U-value of 1.1 W/m2K and non-fragility to CWCT TN66 & TN67 Class 2.
Robert Culley, Director at Roofglaze, said: “We’re delighted to work with Knight Harwood on another important project, and happy to report that the project was carried out to their satisfaction and within the planned schedule.”
Tim Whittaker, Construction Director at Knight Harwood, said: “We’ve worked with Roofglaze on a number of projects, not just in the retail sector – we appreciate their professionalism and expertise.”
