Located in East Riding, Hull, Withernsea High School originally opened 1955. With natural daylight improving pupil attendance, it was time for Withernsea High school to be modernised. When Richard Williman oversaw the £12 million upgrade to his school he was delighted to learn that VELUX Modular skylights would be used to create a bright future for his school.
With a new three storey building on the site of the existing school, there needed to be every opportunity for daylight and fresh air so that staff and pupils have a relaxed working and learning environment. The new building includes:
- Typical classrooms
- A new state-of-the-art sports hall
- Modern dance studios
The architect for Withernsea High School Specified VELUX Modular skylights for this project. Using 20 Pieces of VELUX Longlights with a 5 degree pitch, the new school was in for a smooth installation and a bright future for the school from the moment they were made.
“The VELUX System is excellent and I will recommend its use further. The System has a number of unique details that allowed a rapid and efficient installation by VMS experts Roofglaze.”
Aaron Ley, Project Manager, BAM Construction UK Ltd
Work began on the new Withernsea High School in December 2014 and the VELUX Modular Skylights arrived to the school on 10th August. Taking only 10 days to install, the project was complete by the end of September 2015, giving the pupils a brand new environment to work in.
