Located in East Riding, Yorkshire, this £22 million new school has been a significant development creating a new, fresh learning place for 1,500 young people. This project included consolidating Wolfreton Secondary School and Sixth Form College into one site in Willerby. Having both schools on one site meant that Wolfreton could achieve outstanding standards of learning, and state-of-the-art facilities and opportunities every day for older pupils to act as role models for younger children.
Use of natural light was critical to create a well planned learning environment that felt inspiring.
BAM Construction Limited – North East have undertaken substantial research into creating modern learning spaces. When a child is taught in a bright and ventilated environment, their ability to gather and process information vastly improves. When children are taught in an environment where daylight is preserved their activity level is known to increase.
33 Sections of VELUX Modular Longlights were used throughout the buildings on Wolfreton High School, which were all positioned at a subtle 5 degree pitch for a light, airy atmosphere.
